Smile Restoration for Chipped Teeth and Bite Irregularities
Patient Concern
The patient presented with chipped anterior teeth, misalignment of the incisors, and noticeable asymmetry of the smile. They were also concerned that the teeth appeared short and worn, making the smile look less expressive. The patient tended to avoid smiling fully in conversation and in photographs.
Diagnosis
A comprehensive assessment was carried out, including clinical examination, photographic protocol, digital scanning of the dental arches, and occlusal analysis. Findings included an uneven bite, increased load on the anterior teeth, signs of pathological enamel wear, and asymmetry of the incisal edge.
Treatment
Treatment was delivered in stages, addressing both function and aesthetics. Initially, the bite was stabilised and occlusal load was redistributed. This was followed by minimally invasive tooth preparation and restoration of the natural anatomy using ceramic restorations. Particular attention was given to tooth length, proportions, and the natural translucency of the incisal edge.
Outcome
Following treatment, the smile became more symmetrical, and the teeth regained their natural length and well-defined anatomical form. Chips and irregularities were eliminated, and occlusion was improved.
The patient reported a significant increase in confidence, no longer felt the need to hide their smile, and noted a more refined and harmonious appearance without any artificial look.
